Principal's Corner

Welcome to the 2008 – 2009 school year!  VHS is off to great start.  Our freshmen were highly involved in orientation this summer and we are already seeing some positive results of that effort.  Our new staff members are settling in and the school year is off and running. 

Our goal this year is to send out more information than ever before regarding the goings-on at our school.  To do so in a responsible manner means that we are going to do as much of this as possible electronically and not use the regular mail system.  Our goal is to send out two electronic newsletters per month with information about clubs, activities, testing dates, new programs and up coming events.  We hope that you will find the information helpful and that if we aren’t providing information that you need that you let us know so that we can.

With the recent tragedy involving Empire High Students we are reminded of how fragile life is, and the extreme importance we must place on communication.  It is imperative that we as a staff build solid relationships with your children so that they can feel safe to share information with us that could possibly save lives.  Please talk with your students, as we have, about the importance of sharing information with staff members when a dangerous situation exists so that no other families have to experience the loss of a child.
