About VHS

Vail High School is a small comprehensive high school serving students in grades 9 – 12 with a maximum enrollment of 160 students. Its unique location in the University of Arizona Science and Technology Park allows the school to capitalize on business relationships and connects students to their futures. This “ Small School ” community with class sizes averaging 20 students promotes personal relationships that optimize the learning of each individual. The school and staff provide a challenging academic curriculum that emphasizes Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and Business with opportunities to apply knowledge in real-world settings.

We offer a small community where students and staff really get to know each other. Students that pick Vail High School should be ready to be academically challenged and socially responsible. We have a great little school where each individual can make a huge difference in our school’s success. Technology and elective programs offered include graphic/web design, information technology, business,journalism, art, photography,Spanish, law, newspaper, engineering and others. We have three computer labs with a student-computer ratio of 2:1

Vail High School provides qualified students with the opportunity to enroll tuition free in Pima Community College. Students who pass their PCC class receive both high school credit as well as college credit. Some PCC classes are offered at VHS making it convenient for students to attend.  In addition, we offer Advance Placement (AP) classes which are accepted as college credit at most universities based on results of the AP examination.

We provide an athletic program for our students and are members of the Southern Arizona Athletic Association. Athletic activities include volleyball, flag football, basketball and coed soccer. Students looking for a more competitive league have the option of participating for Empire High School (3A conference) sports teams.

Some of our clubs include National Honor Society, Guitar Club and Chess Club. Students compete in state level events in the Future Business Leaders of America and FIRST Robotics programs.
